Monthly Meetings
We've been successful at gathering each month since September 2000, though we're constantly changing the location and schedule day (finding a free spot to hold 70+ members with net access & a projector isn't easy). In most cases the mailing list will contain more accurate details then this page.

Our meetings are very freeform, since we don't have an official board of directors or program committee, it's usually up to what Matt has scheduled for us. Past topics include: UC Berkeley WEP analysis, intro to Sprint Broadband Direct, $5 2.4GHz antennas, ...

Meeting Schedule
2004

August 5th
Location
Intel - 3600 Juliette Lane - Santa Clara (Auditorium SC12)

When
6 to 9 PM

Intel will be hosting us at there HQ in Santa Clara. They'll be covering plans and vision on Broadband Wireless, especially WiMax and integration with Wi-Fi, and will be prepared to field questions from and engage in debate with a deeply technical audience.

As usual with BAWUG, we've asked Intel to provide "engineering types" to allow for probing questions, etc. The following are confirmed speakers who will have material to present:

  • Opening talk - Sean Maloney, EVP & GM, Intel Communications
  • Technical Overview - Dr. Avril Salter, Broadband Wireless Division
  • Randall Schwartz, Broadband Wireless Division
  • Perspective of partner - Dr. Mo Shakouri, AVP, Alvarion and VP of WiMAX
